Ability obtains majority stake in lens maker

Digital camera maker Ability Enterprise has revealed it has invested NT$367 million (US$12.7 million) to acquire a 52.24% stake in E-Pin Optical Industry, a Taiwan-based maker of aspherical glass/plastic lenses, in an attempt to secure supply of such lenses.Based on orders under negotiation, Ability said it expects its total digital camera shipments in 2012 to increase 10-15% from 2011 to 28-29 million units.
